Cabo

We arrived in Cabo earlier than our scheduled time, having made up for our late departure from San Diego.  Sunny with a light breeze and about 21C. The Nordin/Vincents went on a kayak and snorkel excursion. The rest of us tendered in after a light lunch (some tried the Dive in hotdogs) Cabo has grown enormously, it’s unrecognisable from when I was here in the early 80’s. Very much a party town, and with lots of tourist stores.

Ian & I did a Los Arcos glass bottom boat tour for $10.00 each, great view of the spectacular rock formations if a little choppy, then Karen & I walked over to a small beach the other side of the Marina. I walked around a little more, then  went back to the boat for a swim as the ocean felt a little cool.

Day at Sea

Our first day at sea went by quickly! Breakfast in the dining room (Ian had his favorite kippers), walking the promenade deck, going to cooking demonstrations, checking out the shops, watching Mexican entertainers, going to dance or fitness classes, or just lazing around. All of us had a different idea of a fun day! Now to get ready for the Captains toast, and our Gala Dinner.

We celebrated Alan’s 60^th Birthday on the first Gala night. Escargot and Rack of Lamb were the top choices for dinner. Broadway music show to follow with very glittery costumes.

Embarkation

We had a shuttle van to take the 9 of us from Karen’s to the pier. On arrival we found out they were doing a super cleanse of the ship due to a suspected Noro virus, and that check-in was delayed. We dropped off our luggage and went to Seaport Village just down from the cruise pier. Very busy on the waterfront because of the holidays!

We got onboard about 4pm, and to our cabins about 4:45pm. There was a spectacular sunset around the time of lifeboat drill.

Afterwards we headed up to the Crowsnest to try out some of the special cocktails. As we have a beverage plan this trip we’re being more adventurous! We’ll keep you posted on the best drinks.

A fabulous dinner, the seared scallops for an appetizer with ahi tuna to follow was the most popular choice. After a walk on deck  to see the almost full moon, most of us called it a night. (we are losing an hour tonight)
